해운대 모래축제, 세계 유명 미술작품 모래조각으로 "탄생"

Haeundae-gu, Busan, has set the theme of the 2024 Sand Festival as 'the World Art Museum Tour' and will open the Haeundae Beach Grand Art Museum from the 24th to the 27th.

12 world-renowned sand artists, including Korea's leading artists Choi Ji-hoon, Ji-young, and Kim Gil-man, as well as 9 foreign artists from the United States, Canada, China, and Russia, will present 20 works. Last year there were 14 sand works, but this year the number has increased significantly.

This year's main work is a large-scale work of 25m long and 12m high, equivalent to the 3rd to 4th floors of a building, collaborated by three artists. With the Vatican Museums, Musee d'Orsay, and Louvre Museum buildings in the background, Michelangelo's Creation of Heaven and Earth and Van Gogh's Starry Night are expressed in three dimensions.

In addition, The Birth of Venus (Botticelli), The Last Supper (Leonardo da Vinci), The Gleaners (Millet), Guernica (Picasso), Ssireum (Kim Hong-do), Beauty (Shin Yun-bok), The Scream (Munch), The Man Throwing Flowers (Banksy) can be seen in various forms such as phantoms and reliefs. To commemorate 'Star Wars Day', a special exhibition of Star Wars duel scenes and Acolyte sand works will be held at Haeundae Beach on the 4th and 5th.

There are also a variety of experience programs such as AR stamp tours. In the event plaza, in front of Paradise Hotel, there is the 7m high 'Sand Observatory', the 'Sand Board' which is very popular with children, and the 'Challenge' where you can create a sand sculpture with the artist! There are also a variety of experience programs such as 'I'm a sand sculptor too'.

The 'Media Facade', which displays images of art museums around the world using the main sandwork as a screen from 8 to 10 p.m. on the 24th to 26th, is also a unique attraction.

At 8 p.m. on the 25th and 26th, a pile of sand on a sandboard was used as a screen to show a children's movie, making it a festival that people could stay and enjoy even at night.

The special event 'AR Stamp Tour' runs from the 24th to June 9th, and you can see the sand sculptures come to life by accessing the web page through the QR code posted throughout the event venue.

If you succeed in all missions such as solving quizzes and catching games in augmented reality, you will receive a souvenir. Additionally, 13 people will be selected through a drawing on June 10th and receive generous prizes. AirPod Max (1 person), Shinsegae gift certificate worth 100,000 won (2 people), and a coffee coupon worth 10,000 won (10 people) will be given away. The winner will be announced individually on the 10th.

The opening ceremony will be held at Haeundae Beach at 7 p.m. on the 24th and will include a drawing show, a singing performance by singer Ulala Session, and a fireworks show.

Gunam-ro hip stage and flea market are also attracting attention. At 6 PM on the 25th and 7 PM on the 26th, the recent crazes 'Random Play Dance' and 'Dance Contest' will be held in Gunam-ro, transforming the festival site into a play space for the MZ generation. Random Play Dance is an event where you dance freely to the rhythm of a song that appears at random.

You can make memories with souvenirs at the 'Flea Market', which sells a variety of handmade items, and you can also stop by the heated shelter to take a break and enjoy the festival leisurely. The sand works will be on display until June 9 after the festival ends.

부산 해운대구는 2024 모래축제 주제를 ‘세계 미술관 여행’으로 정하고, 해운대해수욕장 그랜드미술관을 오는 24~27일에 오픈한다. 

한국을 대표하는 최지훈 지대영 김길만 작가와 미국, 캐나다, 중국, 러시아 등 외국 작가 9명 등 모두 12명의 세계적인 모래작가가 20개 작품을 선보인다. 지난해 모래 작품이 14개였는데 올해는 대폭 늘렸다.

올해 메인 작품은 세 명의 작가가 협업한, 건물 3~4층에 맞먹는 12m 높이에 가로·세로 각 25m의 대형 작품이다. 바티칸 미술관, 오르세 미술관, 루브르 박물관 건물을 배경으로 미켈란젤로의 천지창조, 고흐의 별이 빛나는 밤 등을 입체적으로 표현했다.

이 외에도 비너스의 탄생(보티첼리), 최후의 만찬(레오나르도 다 빈치), 이삭 줍는 여인들(밀레), 게르니카(피카소), 씨름(김홍도), 미인도(신윤복), 절규(뭉크), 꽃을 던지는 남자(뱅크시)를 환조, 부조 등 다양한 형태로 만날 수 있다. 지난 4․5일 해운대해수욕장에서 열린 ‘스타워즈 데이’를 기념해 스타워즈 결투 장면과 애콜라이트 모래작품도 특별 전시한다.

AR 스탬프 투어 등 체험 프로그램도 다양하다. 이벤트광장에서 파라다이스호텔 앞으로 높이 7m의 ‘샌드 전망대’, 아이들에게 인기 만점인 ‘샌드보드’, 작가와 함께 모래조각을 만드는 ‘도전! 나도 모래조각가’ 등 체험 프로그램도 다채롭다.

24~26일 오후 8~10시 메인 모래작품을 스크린 삼아 세계 미술관의 모습을 영상으로 보여주는 ‘미디어파사드’도 이색 볼거리다. 

25~26일 오후 8시에는 샌드보드 모래 더미를 스크린으로 활용해 어린이영화를 상영하는 등 야간에도 머무르며 즐길 수 있는 축제로 꾸몄다.

특별 이벤트인 ‘AR 스탬프 투어는 24일~6월 9일까지 행사장 곳곳에 게시된 QR코드를 통해 웹 페이지에 접속하면 모래조각이 살아 움직이는 모습을 볼 수 있다. 

이 같은 증강현실 속의 퀴즈 풀기, 캐치 등 미션을 모두 성공하면 기념품을 증정한다. 또한, 6월 10일에 추첨으로 13명을 뽑아 푸짐한 경품을 준다. 에어팟맥스(1명), 신세계상품권 10만 원(2명), 커피 쿠폰 1만 원(10명)을 증정하며, 당첨자 발표는 10일 개별 연락할 예정이다.

개막식은 오는24일 오후 7시 해운대해수욕장에서 개최하며, 드로잉 쇼와 가수 울라라세션의 노래 공연, 불꽃쇼를 진행한다.

구남로 힙스테이지, 플리마켓도 주목된다. 오는 25일 오후 6시와 26일 오후 7시, 구남로에서는 최근 열풍인 ‘랜덤 플레이 댄스’와 ‘댄스 경연대회’가 펼쳐져 축제 현장이 MZ세대의 놀이공간으로 변모할 예정이다. 랜덤 플레이 댄스는 말 그대로 무작위로 나오는 노래의 리듬에 맞춰 자유롭게 춤을 추는 행사다.

다양한 핸드메이드 소품을 판매하는‘플리마켓’에서 기념품으로 추억을 남길 수 있고, 더위 쉼터에 들러 쉬면서 여유 있게 축제를 즐길 수도 있다. 모래 작품은 축제가 끝난 후 6월 9일까지 전시한다.
