[제이정’s 이슈 영어 회화] Up in the air (미정)

Yumi: Has the workshop schedule been decided?
Tom: Not yet. I still need to get all the managers' confirmation.
Yumi: Things are still up in the air?
Tom: Yes. I will let you know as soon as the plan gets confirmed.


Yumi: 우리 워크샵 스케줄 확정됐나요?
Tom: 아직이요. 매니저님들 승낙을 받아야 해요.
Yumi: 아직 결정이 안된 거에요?
Tom: 네. 일정이 확실해지면 바로 알려드릴게요.


무언가 미확정일 때, '~is/are up in the air.' 라는 표현을 씁니다. 있는 그대로 보면 '~은 공중에 떠있다.' 라 해석되는데, 그렇게 해석해도 비슷한 의미가 되겠네요^^

'My plans are still up in the air.' (내 계획들이 아직 확정되지 않았어.)

'Things between David and Jane are still up in the air.' (David 과 Jane 둘 사이의 상황은 아직 확실하지 않아.)
